To save resources from waste
Land-fill and Waste are our enemies! At Bristol Wood Recycling Project we want to save valuable resources from being squandered, and at the same time prevent adding to the ever increasing amount of landfill in the UK. We aim to divert as many resources away from the waste stream as possible.
How do we save resources from waste? We do this by re-using and recycling as much of what we collect as possible. Historically, what we reuse can represent over twenty percent of what we collect! All decent lengths and sizes of timber are kept, and denailed and cleaned up for re-use; as well as any reusable furniture.
The timber that cannot be re-used, gets mechanically recycled - transformed into wood chips - which can be used for a variety of purposes.
A very small amount of what we collect cannot be recycled or re-used, and has to be disposed of in landfill. Historically this is around one or two percent of what we collect.
